Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons honey
- 1/4 lb. butter melted
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 4 cups whole wheat flour
- 1-2 cups unbleached white flour
Steps:
- Stir honey, melted butter, and salt together in large mixing bowl
- Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup of water; then add to large mixing bowl
- Add 2 1/2 cups of water and whole wheat flour * should make an airy; spongey mixture
- *Beat well by hand*
- Cover and let rise 1 hour
- Stir in white flour until dough is soft (not sticky)
- Knead dough on a flourered surface
- Let rise until double in size
- Shape into two loaves of bread
- Put in geased pans and cover
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- Let dough rise again until doubled
- Bake 35 to 45 minutes
