Ingredients:- 24 Pasta stuffing shells
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 14 ounces Picante sauce
- 1 cup water
- 16 ounces tomato sauce
- 8 ounces chopped green chilies
- 2 cups Monterey Jack cheese
- French Fried onions (optional)
Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Cook pasta shells in unsalted water and drain
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet
- Drain Fat
- Combine picante sauce, water and tomato sauce in small bowl
- Stir 1 cup of sauce mixture into ground beef
- Add chilies, 1 cup of cheese, and 1 can french fried onions to meat (mix well)
- In a ten inch round baking dish, pour half of the remaining sauce and spread evenly
- Stuffed cooked shells with meat mixture
- Arrange shells in baking dish
- Pour remaining sauce over them
- Bake 30 minutes (covered)
- Put remaining cheese and french fried onions on top and bake an additional 5 minutes
- Serve while hot, with tortilla chips
- Garnish with celery, and salsa verde if desired
